Losartan belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin-II receptor antagonists.
Angiotensin-II is a substance produced in the body that binds to receptors in blood vessels, causing them to tighten and leading to an increase in blood pressure.
Losartan prevents the binding of angiotensin-II to these receptors, causing the blood vessels to relax, which, in turn, lowers blood pressure.
Additionally, Losartan slows the decline of kidney function in patients with high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

Indications:
• Cozaar is indicated for the treatment of essential high blood pressure (hypertension).

How to use:
• As the doctor prescribed, usually once a day.

Cautions and Precautions:
- Do not take this medication if you are:
• Allergic to losartan .
• More than three months pregnant.
• Severe impairment of liver function.
• Diabetic or experiencing impaired kidney function while being treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing Aliskiren.

Side effects:
• Dizziness
•Too low sugar in the blood (hypoglycemia).
• Fatigue
• Increased potassium levels ( Hyperkalemia)
• Changes in kidney function including kidney failure
• Anemia

Interactions:
-Cozaar interacts with potassium supplements and lithium
- Before taking Cozaar Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines such as:
• Other medicines to reduce your blood pressure.
• Cancer medications.
• Pain killers.
• Drugs for treatment of fungal infections.
• Arthritis medicines.
• Resins used for high cholesterol, such as cholestyramine.
• Oral agents for diabetes or insulins.
• Medicines that relax your muscles.
• Sleeping medications.
• Opioid medicines such as morphine.
