Esomep 20 mg – 28 Tabs

Esomeprazole belongs to a group of medicines called ‘proton pump inhibitors.

It works by reducing the amount of acid that the stomach produces.

This medicine is used for short-term treatment of reflux symptoms (for example, heartburn and acid regurgitation).

Active ingredients:
Esomeprazole

Indications:
• Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
• In combination with appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori
• Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
• Patients requiring continued NSAID therapy
• prevention of rebleeding of peptic ulcers

How to use:
Adult dose depends on the doctor's direction.


Side effects:
• Headache.
• Effects on your stomach or gut: diarrhea, stomach ache, constipation, wind (flatulence).
• Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting).
• Benign growths (polyps) in the stomach.

Cautions:
• If allergic to Esomeprazole or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
• If allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors (e.g. Pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, or omeprazole).
• Stomach ulcer or stomach surgery in the past.
• Taking treatment continuously for reflux or heartburn for 4 or more weeks.
• Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes) or severe liver problems.
• Severe kidney and liver problems.
• Aged over 55 years and have new or recently changed reflux symptoms or need to take non-prescription indigestion or heartburn remedy treatment every day.
• Endoscopy or a urea breath test or specific blood test (Chromogranin A).

Interactions:
• Nelfinavir, Atazanavir, and saquinavir (used to treat HIV infection).
• Clopidogrel and warfarin
• Proton pump inhibitors (e.g. Pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole or omeprazole) or an H2 antagonist (e.g. Ranitidine or famotidine) or Cisapride.
• Ketoconazole, itraconazole, Voriconazole, and clarithromycin.
• Erlotinib
• Methotrexate
• Digoxin
• Citalopram, imipramine or clomipramine
• Diazepam
• Phenytoin
• Cilostazol
• Rifampicin
• Tacrolimus
• St. John’s wort
