Carbamazepine
Tegretol (carbamazepine) is an anticonvulsant.
It works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain, so it is used to prevent and control seizures.
Indications of Tegretol 200:
• Treat certain types of seizures (partial, tonic-clonic, mixed).
• Treat nerve pain such as trigeminal neuralgia and glossopharyngeal neuralgia.
Points of interest:
• It may take up to 4 weeks before your symptoms improve.
• Do not stop using Tegretol suddenly, even if you feel fine. Stopping suddenly may cause increased seizures.
How to use Tegretol:
Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Active Ingredients:
Carbamazepine.
Side effects of Tegretol 200:
• Dizziness, loss of coordination, problems with walking.
• Nausea, vomiting.
• Drowsiness.
Cautions:
• You should not take Tegretol if you have a history of bone marrow suppression.
• Stay alert to changes in your mood or symptoms.
Interactions:
• Do not use Tegretol if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur.
